STARTING BLOCK BOOTCAMP
LEARN HOW TO BUILD THE FUTURE
"What the Internet did to publishing, Blockchain will do to about 160 different industries"
--Patrick M. Byrne
AngelList reported that cryptocurrency job postings nearly doubled in 6 months in 2017 and are expected to triple compared to 2016 levels.
--Bitcoin Magazine, Benjamin Vitaris, September 2017
“I do think Bitcoin is the first [encrypted money] that has the potential to do something like change the world.”
Who We Are
Starting Block is a fully immersive blockchain bootcamp. Learn how to program smart contracts in a learning environment that is project-based, highly focused and hands-on. Get in on the ground floor of this new technology that is already taking the business world and many governments by storm.
The coursework focuses on Ethereum’s Solidity platform, but the underlying cryptographic principles behind Bitcoin and other alt coins is also explained. Students who complete the course will be prepared to either build their own DApp or seek employment in the emerging field of blockchain and smart contract development (NOTE: Starting Block does NOT offer job-placement services.)
The program is broken up into 3 sections, each of which lasts for 4 weeks. Students are highly encouraged to sign up for all 3 sections because each one is a progression of the previous section and all 3 are taught back-to-back. The curriculum is comprised of intensive, full-time, non-accredited educational coursework. The course work must be completed in person in the Mission District of San Francisco. Starting Block Bootcamp is an equal opportunity, inclusive and community-focused educational company.
Our curriculum is divided into 3 sections, each lasting 4 weeks and scheduled back-to-back.
On Your Marks
Students will become familiar with the architecture of a blockchain while learning how to build their own blockchains from scratch. Concepts in this section will be thoroughly explained and core basics will be quickly covered for those not well versed in the fundamentals of computer science. Coding basics will also be taught using the language Solidity.
Students will delve into the Ethereum platform and learn how to write smart contracts in Solidity, thereby enabling the creation of powerful decentralized-applications (DApps) using blockchain. Students will learn the ins and outs of the Ethereum protocol while also learning valuable skills such as how to create a custom tradable token on Ethereum or use the token to host a crowdsale to kickstart an idea.
Students will continue to build upon the skills learned in section 2 by incorporating industry standard practices in security and privacy into their smart contracts. Students will be able to implement front-end functionality into their DApps using Web3.js, while also learning how to deploy applications on the back-end using the powerful Hyperledger Fabric tool. Students will learn a lot about the landscape of Ethereum development today while honing their smart contract development skills to a professional degree.
